So you’ve got your PR write-up started (and we will deliver that ASAP) — now here’s how to actually put it to work so you can get featured, noticed, and positioned as the powerhouse entrepreneur you are.
There are a few things you need to do right away, so read through this, and while you’re working, we will get that PR done for you.
1. Time the Release Right
Only send your PR piece once we have the official release date for your season of The Blox. Ideally, you’ll begin outreach about 5–7 days before the episode drops to give outlets time to publish.
2. Build a Local Media List
Start collecting the following NOW. Set up a spreadsheet with emails for the following outlets. You will have decent luck with simply googling these, but if you need additional support, AI is great at this kind of research:
- Local newspaper editors
- TV anchors and reporters
- Radio personalities
- Business bloggers or columnists
- Chamber of Commerce, CVBs, downtown associations, and business clubs
- LinkedIn connections in journalism, community engagement, or economic development
- Facebook group admins for local news, community boards, and small business networks
Pro Tip: Use outlet websites, LinkedIn, or even Instagram bios to find real names and emails.
3. Send Your Story in One Polished Package
When you’re ready, send out a single email to your entire list. Include:
- Your PR write-up (I’ve got that covered for you)
- Copy/Paste it into the email body AND send it as 2 attachments, PDF and Doc
- 1–2 high-quality headshots or action photos
- Links to your business, The Blox, and your social media
- A clear subject line like:
“Local Entrepreneur Featured on National Reality Series ‘The Blox'” (Use your PR Title that we provided you)
4. Follow Up Every 2–3 Days
Don’t send once and hope for the best. Media people are busy — not uninterested. Keep it polite and professional:
- “Just following up in case this slipped through.”
- “Happy to resend or answer any questions if you’re interested in running this.”
- “Let me know if I can provide more details or a local interview.”
5. Set a Google Alert
Go to https://google.com/alerts Set up an alert for:
- Your name
- Your business name
- “The Blox Season [your season number]”
This way, you’ll be notified the second anything gets published — and you can share every article to your audience and build momentum.
6. Leverage the Exposure
Once a few outlets run the story:
- Post the links on your socials (use pull quotes or screenshots for engagement).
- Send the articles to local podcasters, business groups, or panel hosts.
- Add the links to your email signature, media kit, and press section on your website.
- Use it in pitches for speaking, partnerships, or investment.
7. Need Help? I Got You.
- We’ve got that covered for you. Watch your email inbox.
- Want help pitching outlets? I’ll show you how
- Need branded graphics or images to go with it? Some generic images are already created, and can be found in our private S17 Facebook Group. Additional customized images are a great idea, and you can do this yourself, or we can help. $300 for one month’s worth of customized social images you can post anywhere you want.
- Want me to send the press email for you? That’s doable too. $250 flat fee and we will generate your media list and email the PR for you.
Let’s make this appearance on The Blox work hard for you long after your episode airs.
